I'm slightly disgusted with how many professional film reviewers apparently missed the deliberateness of this narrative. Weirdness, unevenness, misogyny, pervasive violence, and political incorrectness to boot - THAT'S THE POINT of a movie about something as strange as karaoke music in a dystopian war zone! This duality is consistent throughout the movie and well done. This is a narrative about polar oppositions that cannot be conventionally reconciled (politically, culturally, by gender, or in seemingly any other way). But then there was Music and then there was Salima Kahn. Make no mistake about it, this is Bill Murray-noir at its its sad-sack, self depreciating best while managing to uplift the soul at the same time.

Not as funny as I thought it would be even though the reviews suggested it's not funny at all :)

Bill Murray is back!!! This movie is hilarious, with a great tear-jerker ending. The supporting cast of Bruce Willis, Scott Caan, and Danny McBride send it over the top. I do not care what the critics say, this is an instant classic.

Wow, I would never have guessed that this would have received such bad reviews. I loved it. It takes awhile for the plot to develop, but once it does, it's awesome. As a woman, I enjoyed watching the contrasting characters of Merci and Salima, and I actually cried at the end of the movie. My husband also enjoyed watching a movie about Afghanistan that wasn't a 'war movie.'

It's hard to clinically define this as a "good" movie, but its merits as a fine and enjoyable one are certainly arguable.
