Some interesting and occasionally pleasing sequences of images. And some that don't achieve the level of interesting or pleasing.

Very cool film that toys with time. Maya Deren infuses her two passions, avantgarde filmmaking with dance and choreography to make a very hypnotic experience.

Might be her weirdest, at points negatively so. Not exactly sure how everything ties together (who cares anyway), but besides the party scene which I thought was a bit dull on a visual standpoint, this is, again, cryptically brilliant.

The poetess confesses her soul out: she loves the art of dancing and the endless private emotional signals it stands for. You can see her clear and present femininity thoroughly and passionately. 99/100

What a beautiful little film. The early Bunuel, Man Ray and Duchamp films do nothing for me, honestly. But this film moves me very much. I imagine seeing it on the big screen with the right music would be kind of euphoric. Deren is definately in her own league, though, it's unfair to compare her to the well known surrealists or dadists. "Meshes of the Afternoon" is fantastic too, probably her most notable film, but this is better. They're both on YouTube, watch them!
