A social event choreographed in the manner of a dance, illuminated by concepts drawn from Greek legend; one of filmmaker Maya Deren's most intriguing works.

I you-tubed (not a verb? don't care) this and played it with Johnny Greenwood's score for There Will Be Blood. That was a good move on my part, I think. The "party" movement is beeyouteeful.

Very cool film that toys with time. Maya Deren infuses her two passions, avantgarde filmmaking with dance and choreography to make a very hypnotic experience.

Some interesting and occasionally pleasing sequences of images. And some that don't achieve the level of interesting or pleasing.

Definitely my most favorite of her short films, it's a beautiful and eye-pleasing film with magical scenes such as the one where the heroine seems to be flying while they're dancing; there's really no need analyzing Maya Deren's films. Maybe I like this more than At Land and Meshes of the Afternoon because it's less surreal and more focused on what Maya Deren is really passionate about: dancing.

Deren's experimental shorts fascinate me with their techniques-in-filmic-primitive appeal.
