Good not great.....should have been better with the quality of the cast on hand.

Nothing is wasted in the stripped-down clarity of Ride Lonesome's eighty minutes. This is the apotheosis of the classical western.

Randolph Scott is a principled bounty hunter encountering a number of complications as he takes a wanted killer back to Santa Cruz. The movie is lean and mean, providing outsized entertainment for its 73 minute running time. B movie western casts don't come better than this with Scott, James Coburn, Pernell Roberts, James Best and Lee Van Cleef all in good form.

Mildly enjoyable revenge-themed Western. Decent performances and some good dialogue, but the film's best quality is its gorgeous scope cinematography, all those magnificent wide vistas and the final image of the burning tree. However, points off for some really vile racism, and a tinge of sexism too.

Another top notch western by Budd & Randolph. This one was particularly dark, in that not even Scott was all that likable. A tight film with a rather short running time that only helps to keep the story moving.
