Red River (2011)

Set in a small town in the backwoods of Kentucky, RED RIVER tells the tale of Roland Thatcher: a family man, a business man, a man of God...and a man who doesn't take kindly to strangers. When a group of city kids sets up camp on the outskirts of his property, they spark a chain of events culminating in bloodshed, dismemberment and mass murder. As a local, fledgling reporter inches closer to the Thatcher property, the shocking truth about Roland and his 'family' may finally emerge...

John Wayne plays a bit of a villain, but Monty Clift is great as the foster son. Gotta love that voice, those eyes, those eyebrows!

One of the great old westerns. Slightly skewed performances from everyone involved actually. There's something a little odd and slightly darker about this movie.

I rate this with te Searchers as possibly the finest of the old style Western genre movies . the Duke at his very best .

My favorite John Wayne movie. Wayne's a total badguy in this one as a controlling cattle driving prick. But he softens as his number two man, Montgomery Clift gets his cattle across the Red River, and on to Austin. Another great ending to a great film.

One of the greatest westerns ever made. John Wayne has a great presence (despite his limitations as an actor) and Montgomery Clift gives an earth-shattering debut performance, playing a young, troubled soul.
