Two investigators of paranormal hoaxes, the veteran Dr. Margaret Matheson and her young assistant, Tom Buckley, study the most varied metaphysical phenomena with the aim of proving their fraudulent origins. Simon Silver, a legendary blind psychic, reappears after an enigmatic absence of 30 years to become the greatest international challenge to both orthodox science and professional sceptics. Tom starts to develop an intense obsession with Silver, whose magnetism becomes stronger with each new manifestation of inexplicable events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, tension mounts, and his worldview is threatened to its core.

A gripping thriller with a fantastic cast. Cilian Murphy plays a Doctor with a secret as alongside Sigourney Weaver he investigates claims of psychic phenomena. The big scoop would be to catch out psychic Simon played Bob de Niro (at last in a decent role again!). As things come to a head, who is telling the truth???

I enjoyed this movie, but in the end i didn't get it. I've been wracking by brains since watching it and i still don't understand the motives of one of the characters. I don't wish to give anything away, so it's not easy for me to convey what i mean. Let me put it this way: If what is revealed at the end is so, then i can't for the life of me understand why we had to put up with the narrative as it is told anyway? Perhaps there is a flaw in the direction? I would have to see it again. But Robert De Niro is excellent and Cillian Murphy is superb. Sigourney Weaver takes a bit of a back seat, so she feels a little unused, although there is one emotional scene in which she talks about the death of her young son which she pulls off with heart breaking authenticity. Yeah, i would recommend it just so you can let me know what you think?

I think people were misled into thinking this was going to be some kind of generic paranormal horror movie and were therefor disapointed when they were presented with a well made film that didn't fall into typical horror movie tropes.

Decent thriller with strong performances by the three key actors. Good twist at the end.
