When 10-year-old Joshua (Lurie Poston) decides to join the cheerleading squad at his Catholic school, he faces an uphill battle -- and opposition from his single mom, Andy (Carrie Preston), who struggles to understand her Hollywood musical- and pom-pom-loving son. With the help of sympathetic neighbor Charlie (Michael Emerson), Andy attempts to embrace her son for who he is, not who she wants him to be. James Vasquez directs this touching comedy.

Kind of campy, but it had a good message, and some laughs.

US movie "Ready? Ok!" is a wonderful, quirky comedy drama, which tells the heartfelt story of a young boy and his unfailing dream to become part of the school's cheerleading team. Similarly in vein as other fantastic child-character driven film, "Little Miss Sunshine", this is a far less cynical affair filled with cheerful moments. Casting of the young actor is inspired with a great supporting cast. True delight and highly recommended.

This film was so cute I liked how it wasn't too campy just borderline. Carrie Preston was really impressive she's awesome in Tru Blood but I think she really shows just how versatile of an actress she really is. And props to the kid who took on this brave role and did such a good job portraying the character I found this film to be very enjoyable.

What a wonderful short film, sensitive, funny and beautifully acted. Well edited, good score. Excellent direction. A real winner.
