Quiet Chaos (2008)

Pietro is a successful businessman with a wife and a daughter. One day he helps his brother save two women from drowning at the beach. When he returns home he finds that his wife has died. Now Pietro has to take care of his daughter, Claudia. When he drives her to school soon after, he decides to wait for her all day in front of the school, and soon that's what he does every day.

So che e' scontato dire male di un film visto dopo aver letto il libro da cui esso e' tratto, tuttavia in questo caso non riesco proprio ad evitarlo. In Caos Calmo (il film) manca il meglio di Caos Calmo (il libro). Le mille riflessioni di Pietro Paladini sono banalizzate e ridotte al minimo, prive del cinismo e dell'umorismo involontario del protagonista. Alcuni personaggi di contorno sono stati caratterizzati in modo pessimo. Un esempio su tutti, il bellissimo personaggio di Enoch (Samuele nel film) affidato ad un grande attore come Silvio Orlando: risultato? una delusione totale. Indubbiamente il soggetto si prestava ben poco ad una messa in scena cinematografica, ma il regista, al fine di evitare la scorciatoia della voce fuori campo, e la via impraticabile del film intimista (l'intento e' palesemente quello di fare il pieno al botteghino, lo testimonia il cast All Star), sceglie la via della semplificazione. La materia prima (il libro, gli attori) e' comunque di prim'ordine, per cui resta comunque un buon film. Poteva essere un'ottimo film.

A parte la scena di sesso uscita improvvisamente dal nulla, e' un film molto piacevole. Da consigliare.

It's watchable and fluent, but there is something narcissistic and conceited in Moretti's performance.
