Proxy (2014)

While walking home from her latest OB appointment, a very pregnant Esther Woodhouse is brutally attacked and disfigured by a hooded assailant. This horrible event seems to be a blessing in disguise when Esther finds consolation in a support group. Her life of sadness and solitude is opened up to friendship, understanding, and even acceptance. However, friendship and understanding can be very dangerous things when accepted by the wrong people.

It seems director Parker could well have made his point and maintained his dramatic impact without creating such a sadistic streak that emanates through the narrative.

Skirting horror and black-comedy terrain without quite surrendering to either, the pic proves rather bracing even if it doesn’t hold up to much plot-logic scrutiny.

This movie was cheap and dialogue was just cheesy as well. Super low budget and the pregnancy looks like a sci-fi from the 70s. I can't stand the director's choice of shots either... very poorly executed. The actors were decent tho, nothing stands out, but decent.

Proxy is too many conflicting movies crammed into a daunting 2 hour run time. Zack Parker juggles too many plates at once, and they all come crashing down simultaneously.
