Princess Cyd (2017)

High school athlete Cyd Loughlin lives alone with her depressive father in South Carolina, perpetually longing to get away from it all. When her aunt, famous novelist Miranda Ruth, agrees to host her for a few weeks during the summer, Cyd jumps at the opportunity. While there, she falls for a girl in the neighborhood, even as she and her aunt gently challenge each other in the realms of sex and spirit.

Princess cyd is a very warm and generous movie accompanied by smart and relatable characters.The things which standout in this movie are fine performances,smart and meaningful dialogues,cinematography background score and last but not the least fine storytelling.But it has got its ebbs in the form of less dramatization of pivotal moments in the film and and an abrupt ending to the fine flow of events from start up until the very last moments.The joy dont lie on what we would do what we want to do but on what we would do what comes naturally to us,this message of the film brings a huge impact on me and i fell in love with this movie.Overall I have somewhat unique and fine cinematic experience with this movie.So must watch.

There are conflicts in Princess Cyd, but they're on a low boil. One of the pluses of Cone's approach — if you're open to it — is you are sometimes confronted with your own preconceived notions about people.

Watch this if: Sweet, thoughtful stories of romance between girls is your Friday night in. Princess Cyd doesn't fall for stereotypes. It's not a classic girl-meets-girl flick. It's a story of of family evolving from strangers to friends. Cyd spends a few weeks with her novelist aunt over the summer and they discuss everything from love and sex to her mother's death. Cyd meets Katie and what unfolds is a discovery of identity and the first feelings of love. We adore the gentle quality of this movie. The way it listens with beauty and grace.

This is a wonderful film. With so much retread, tired ass storylines with dry, half-entertaining characters, overwrought drama, forced but not actually funny or sophomoric comedy, it's refreshing to watch different scenarios and fresh young talent along with seasoned veterans portraying multidimensional characters who grow or change. The film also doesn't take its story or characters too seriously that it dulls the overall affect.
