Primrose Path (1940)

Ellie Mae lives on Primrose Hill with her good-hearted and fancy free mother, her drunken father, her younger sister and a mean-spirited grandmother. The Hill is not a good part of town, however. When she meets and falls for a hard-working man, they marry and she hides her past from him. When he discovers the truth it jeopardizes their marriage.

Pleasant enough Ginger Rogers romance which is not stand-out, but is well made.

One of the most perfect romances ever. Ginger gives her absolute finest performance and is great with Joel McCrea.

Solid dramatic turn from Ginger Rogers, ended up liking this one quite a bit. Rogers and McCrea near the end are a little too horrible to each other to really want them to get back together, but it still works. Also wanted someone to slap the grandmother a little bit - horrible woman.
