Horror isn't supposed to be pleasant - it's supposed to be stressful, but for some reason this one is just not fun to watch. It's not poorly made, it's not a poor concept - perhaps it's simply my weak spot (I would never get myself in that situation and I HATE horror with animal suffering) but I just did not enjoy watching this.

Two stars because any more would be too generous. It tries and fails to deliver what could have been a pretty decent movie. 4.5 stars out of 5 for the first half of the film and 1 out of 5 for the second half. The acting in the second half, the deaths, the unrealistic encounters, the lost opportunities, the reason why none of the 'bad' guys say a word re all points which drag the movie down. In my opinion, skip this movie. Go watch I Spit On Your Grave if you want a woman on psychos kind of movie.

No. Just no. This movie had a lot of potential to be an awesome thriller but Denham really screwed the pooch. The first 20 minutes were decent but then the actual "thriller" part of the movie starts. Why not make a movie where these characters make real person decisions? Both sides make the dumbest decisions throughout. One minute the 'bad guys' have super human strength and the next they're caught in an obvious trap. The recently discharged veteran can't follow through on a kill even after he says "you killed my dog, now I kill you"? This movie made me angry. So many plot holes and missed opportunities to make a believable movie. I can't say I'll ever watch a movie written by Christopher Denham ever again.

Though more than once, the ligaments of logic were apparently left on the editing room floor, this is a clever little modern-day throwback to the woodsy horror films of old. It has things to say and smartly employs strong actors to help say them - particularly Schreiber who performs a silly, portentous monologue with award-worthy panache. It's an unsubtle film to be sure, but a wickedly effective one.
