Pottersville (2017)

Maynard, a beloved local businessman is mistaken for the legendary Bigfoot during an inebriated romp through town in a makeshift gorilla costume. The sightings set off an international Bigfoot media spectacle and a windfall of tourism dollars for a simple American town hit by hard times. When Brock Masterson, reality TV's "Monster Hunter," arrives to hunt the beast, Maynard agonizes over whether to come clean, destroying the rebirth of his beloved town, or perpetuate the inadvertent hoax.

An amiable misfire that (for better or worse) isn't quite as nutty as it sounds, Seth Henrikson's Pottersville pairs Yuletide cheer with the deviance of the Furry scene and an out-of-control hoax involving an ersatz Bigfoot.

Fantastic reimaging of Its a Wonderful Life. Tempo is appropriate for the genre and the recasting is brilliant. Could become a Christmas classic.

Pottersville doesn't offer anything special, but its heart is in the right place, mainly supported by its impressive cast.

Robert Daniels 26 Aug 2018

Pottersville is one of two things, the worst Christmas movie ever or the best movie ever.

This film is hilarious & quirky & the cast is obviously amazing and does not disappoint. We watched it with our kids and it is one of those rare films that both adults and kids will laugh along with. Our son suggested we watch it every year during the holidays, and I think we will!
