Ronnie Barker comes to big screen in 'Porridge'', an offshoot of the popular TV sitcom. Fletcher (Barker) is still in prison along with his cellmate Dogbar (Richard Beckinsdale), when letcher is roped into managing a prison fotball team. During the big match, an escape is made by a fellow prisoner which fletcher and Dogbar accidentally get swept up in and find themselves, unintentionally, escaped from jail! Ronnie Barker is great as he always was in the role of Fletcher. the film follows the TV sitcom perfectly with all the old cast returning. It seems like an extended episode, however without the canned laughter which, in the TV sitcom reminded you to laugh, many of the jokes pass you by... but not all of them. Although this film is not brilliant, you can't help but love it as Ronnie Barker could make someone lvoe anything! It is a great tribute to the TV show and well worth a watch if you are a 'Porridge' fan. A true classic that Ronnie Barker should have been very proud of.

For fans of the tv series only - this is a stretched archaic affair, where camp prisoners wearing rouge passes as humour. Despite being given very little to work with, Ronnie Barker delivers all the (too few) laughs.

Not As Good As The TV Show (1974 - 76) But Still Some Good Laughs

Good film spin off from the television series, but you really need to know the characters to enjoy all the jokes before seeing the movie.

Wonderfully faithful to the original TV series and is one of the few that survives that transition to the big screen!
