Peter & the Wolf (2006)

Peter is a slight lad, solitary, locked out of the woods by his protective grandfather, his only friend a duck. In town, he's bullied. When a wolf menaces the duck - as well as grandfather's fat cat and an ill-flying bird that Peter has befriended - Peter bravely tries to tree the wolf. Grandfather, the townspeople, and the hunters who have antagonized Peter figure in the dénouement.

I was extremely lucky to see this animated short film tonight to the accompaniment of a live symphonic orchestra. The combination was extraordinary, never seen or heard anything alike. I used to listen to this soundtrack of Sergej Prokofiev on vinyl when I was a young child and knew it more or less by heart. The movie was with animal sounds only, no human voices. But still the makers managed to make it very detailed with a bit of fun into it.

I love Peter & the Wolf. I need to buy an audio recoding of the music some day. This version was very good, not glossed-over like so many others.

loved the music, loved the animation, Loved the little funny quirks in the animals. Overall, a wonderful little slice of artistic deliciousness.

The animation is very good: Nice stop-motion, not CGI. It goes without saying that the music is very charming...And yet...Why did Templeton feel the need to change the original script? It is not a big deal, but it did not seem like an improvement, it was just unnecessary tampering with a classic.
