When Penelope gets married to banker James Elcott, she finds him too preoccupied with work to pay much attention to her, so she robs his bank in disguise. After she confesses to her psychiatrist, Greg Mannix, he offers to return the money for her, as he is secretly in love with her. However, he abandons the money when the police approach. Penelope becomes determined to admit to the crime, but neither James nor the police believe her story.

Bland heist comedy with a game cast (Natalie Wood, Dick Shawn) and a solid director, Arthur Hiller, but sadly this film forgot to be funny, charming, or entertaining. Wood plays a bored wife of a banker who decides to rob her husband's band. Meh.

Fun, fun, fun! A nice change of pace role for Ian Bannen. Natalie Wood is as charming as ever on screen, and Peter Falk a delight.

Outdated? Yes. Cheesy? Yes. Natalie Wood funny? YES. Its not meant to be a mind blowing, make you think film. Its entertaining!

natalie wood is hilarious in "penelope", but aside from her, there isn't very much humor in the film. at least not good humor.
