The extreme largesse of Anselm Kiefer's project, his radical certainties and devotion, all call for a more intrusive probing.

Anselm Kiefer is an awesome painter and the stuff about his life is just as interesting (without trying to sound to pretentious here his paintings look like what i'd imagine his memories are like after you hear his story, even the more abstract stuff and especially the more abstract stuff in some cases) so I was probably gonna like this anyway, but it's superceded my expectations totally. I hope it gets a major release here but it won't, so do yourself a favor and seek it out.

It's rare to have the chance to watch an artist at work at length, and that's what Sophie Fiennes offers with her immersive documentary about German artist Anselm Kiefer.

Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow provides a series of evocative but also elusive compositions, as well as some contemplations.

A 35-hectare derelict silk factory turned artist's studio in the south of France is the otherworldly setting for Sophie Fiennes' immersive doc.
