Outlaws and Angels (2016)

A gang of cold-blooded outlaws narrowly escapes a blood-soaked bank robbery in a grimy frontier town. With a notorious bounty hunter hot on their trail, these nefarious criminals desperately need a place to hide out before night falls. Fate brings them to the home of the Tildons, a seemingly innocent family with two feisty daughters. As the men settle in, an impetuous game of cat and mouse plays out during the cold, black night. Come morning, nothing will ever be the same.

The sensibility is more grindhouse gore than spaghetti western, perhaps hoping to mine the same vein as Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight,” but lacking Mr. Tarantino’s lively dialogue and wicked sense of humor.

Between the setting, the production design and a majority of the cast, Outlaws and Angels has the individual pieces to be something of merit. This particular revenge tale isn’t an example of incompetent filmmaking, just sadly misfocused storytelling.

This is like a poor mans Tarantino, I thought it was original western movie, unexpected and shocking at times but the underlying humour is great, I loved it! I bet Tarantino wished it was his. For the first time in years, I watched it twice!

Holy cow. Not like any other western. Themes are unique, hard to handle. Very well done. Kudos to the filmmakers for bringing in feminist storyline in a realistic way that didn't seem forces.

Truly a masterpiece. One of the best movies at Sundance. I'm a movie lover and very particular about the acting the dialog, the camera work and directing. I have to say this movie left me breathless. There was a scene when the camera was focused on Francesca's eyes. No words were said, but the eyes said everything. So much emotions was conveyed with just the eyes. So powerful. I can't say enough about this movie. Love it.
