One to Another (2006)

A story about bunch of people who live in a town in provincial France. At the center of it all is Pierre, a conceited and vain bisexual musician in his late teens who acts as a magnet, to varying degrees, for a whole array of characters - from his sister Lucie, with whom he has a heated incestuous relationship, to a city councilor with whom he participates in gay orgies. When Pierre turns up dead, Lucie investigates the reasons for his demise and charts the network of sadomasochistic relationships that crisscross the town.

This movie posits that we can never know why people commit a horrible crime, such as, oh, violently kill their best friend for no reason. It's one of the dumbest points any movie ever tried to make. At least the incest scenes are fun.

Didn't find any of the actors all that interesting, the plot is kinda jerky, but the ending is worth it.

This movie is great if you're looking to watch a lot of naked attractive people. However, if you're looking for a good solid plot and intriguing mystery drama, you may have a bit more difficulty. The flashback style storytelling, and the fact the male characters look so much alike, sprinkled over the always annoying subtitle reading, makes for a very confusing watch. By the end of it, I was convinced it should've and could've been a great movie... if it had been written or directed in a way I could follow the timeline and understand the characters better. (And yes, I enjoy intelligent films and nearly every genre. However. I'll admit, French films with their soft core porn and empty plots are usually a bit much for me) Well, the male actors were hot, the lead actress very pretty, and they were all very fun to look at. I just wish I knew what the hell was going on throughout most of the movie.

An interesting but undeveloped plot about disenchanted youth who seek thrills which result in murder. Why? Don't ask. What's the point? The movie doesn't bother to provide answers. It's more interested in throwing gasoline on uncertainty. The most interesting character is the bisexual and incestuous victim, Pierre played convincingly by Arthur Dupont. Based on a rea- life incident in France, it's disapointing that jagged editing and slow-paced direction doesn't serve the movie well. Another problem is that the trio of teenagers look physically alike and act the same so it's hard to remember who's Sebastien, Nicholas or Baptiste even when they're in separate scenes. The movie is narrated by Lizzie Brochere as the sister, Lucie but the actress is so laid-back that she doesn't capture our interest. The movie has themes similar to American movies like "My Own Private Idaho," "Rivers Edge," or "Bully" but these are all better since they sustain interest in the characters.
