Seydoux is once again marvellous and a collaboration such as this seems long overdue.

The result is a quiet film that doesn’t push an agenda, doesn’t rush, doesn’t trade on sensationalized emotion, but leaves us space to engage with wonderful characters. There’s a feeling of intimacy and sense of connection, open-heartedness and good will that stays long after the movie ends.

One Fine Morning is yet more evidence of how far Mia Hansen-Løve can push her naturalistic style, using seemingly plain storytelling to advance intellectual ideas that rarely feel drawn from the mind because they are so in tune with felt experience: feelings and attractions, the passing of time, the sense of a life being lived. This movie is no different.

Clarisse Loughrey 13 Apr 2023

The irony of being intimately connected while desperately lonely can be a hard one to digest. Yet director Mia Hansen-Løve prods at the concept with the same tenderness that she applies to all her films – each of them united by the pains and pleasures of interconnectivity.

(Mauro Lanari) The refined direction keeps the film equidistant both from the aestheticization of "Amour" (Haneke 2012) and "The Father" (Zeller 2020), and from the realism that would suffer the proverbial Moretti objection ("Those who want to know, know. Those who don't want to understand... come on"). Mia Hansen-Løve continues to draw from her biography and mitigates the existentialist brutality of the facts and authors cited with the passionate thrills that still prevail over the agonic ones. While it lasts, good for her, after which she and her partner plan a trip to Switzerland for euthanasia if the symptoms of a neurodegenerative disease should arise.
