A little girl named Cathy tries to keep her mother from making out with a man while driving one day, and she inadvertently causes her mother's death in the car crash. 16 years later, Cathy has changed her name to Helen and has become a psychotic actress. Things are going fine until horrible things starts to happened with the cast of her new play.

I love love love short story frame works for movies. This anthology is so great! The first story is a typical urban legend story that makes you pacified in to contentment, then WHAM! Battle for Bishop starts fist pumping defiance, because you can't understand Emilio Esteves, and never will...until they make the Last Starfighter... then you can relate. The effects were straight out of my ol' Nintendo Virtual Boy (i'd love to play one again)... great ending! Then it gets better with Lance Henriksen who is becoming more esteemed in my eyes with every viewing... this time, he battles a demonic monster truck. However, as great as that is, his falling from grace woodland dream wins the race. And, what is a movie with out me crying... and I did for my dear sweet large rodent. The family of actors in this piece I want to take home (even it the dad is kinda mean). The mouse effects and a little girl yelling "Don't hurt her, she just wants her baby back!" has been haunting me for days!

These early 80's horror films are some of the best in the genre. Despite lousy effects and poor acting I love this stuff to death. The video game portion is definately my favorite part of this movie. Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, the Twilight Zone...you get the picture. Very Cool.

Starring: Christina Raines, Emilio Estevez, Lance Henriksen, Richard Masur, Veronica Cartwright, and Albert Hague. Directed by Joseph Sargent. Written by Jeffrey Bloom and Christopher Crowe. Rated [b]R[/b] (for strong horror violence, some language and sexual content). Running time approximately 1 hour 39 minutes. Joseph Sargent's [i]Nightmares[/i] is a disappointing horror anthology. The first of the four segments is good, but lacks punch. The second involves an overacting Emilio Estevez and some really bad special effects. The third: Lance Henriksen being chased by a demon-possessed pickup truck. The fourth, though it ends very badly (well, maybe not badly, but quite oddly), is the most frightening and satisfying of them all. The film as a whole, though, belongs on television only. For very late nights. Very late. Late. I saw most of this on TV one day a long time ago, I got to see the great part with Emilio Estevez and the video arcade! It was so cool, but I want to see the rest of the movie!
