Nightmare Man (2006)

Ellen receives an exotic mask by mistake and begins to have waking nightmares and hallucinations. Her husband and doctors believe she is a paranoid schizophrenic and take her to a psychiatric ward. On the way to the hospital the car breaks down, her husband rushes off to get gas, and the Nightmare Man appears. Ellen escapes and stumbles upon a country house where two young couples are spending the weekend. They do not know if the killer is real or just a figment of Ellen's tortured mind nor if the killer is outside or already inside the house.

Nightmare Man?...Shitemare Man would be more accurate. The title sequence is direct from 1983 and the acting is porn standard. Horribly cliched scare moments that were just plain rubbish and would only frighten you if you are 97 years old and afraid of harmless things like marshmallows. I almost turned it off after 20 minutes and probably would've if I wasn't going to write a review. Who builds all these gas stations on roads that nobody uses anyway? So much of this film is plain crap. eg."we have run out of gas and I can't get a phone signal, I will go to the garage and leave my delusional wife whom I am taking to a mental institute on her own, I'm sure she'll be fine." If you do find yourself at a friends house, in the woods, an hour from the nearest police station, when you go and investigate a cry for help do not for no obvious reason put down the loaded crossbow you are carrying...you're bound to regret it. In summary then, YAWN.

Scary, sexy, and stupid. This movie had some scary moments but the stupidity didn't make it a good film. It reminded me a lot of Evil Dead but there was better acting in Evil Dead.

The most interesting thing about this film is the Poster. But I will say that one of the supporting/lead woman in the film, Tiffany Shepis was wonderful to watch. She is captivating & entertaining. By far the best actor in the film. The cameo by Richard Moll was amusing. I looked at my friend Maryanne and was like "BULL FROM NIGHT COURT!" That's it though, the plot is shaky & the characters are underdeveloped. Not too impressed except for Tiffany Shepis!

A little cheesy, but what's a horror sammich without a little cheese? It had some good death scenes. And Tiffany Shepis's character was worth the watch.

A few moments that hint at some talent behind the camera, but most of the film is pretty terrible. They really have a passion for the genre, but lack the skills to create something wonderful. Severely low budget - about on par with Open Water in this department - the issue wasn't budget or technical, it was story and acting... pretty dumb all around. I think they were going for fun and it is funny only if they were trying to be serious and were unaware how bad it is. I don't think they were though. Bottom line is that this film wasn't enjoyable.
