Dumped by her loser boyfriend, Erin's love life hits rock bottom when her overbearing mother places an embarrassing ad in the "personals" section of a local newspaper on her behalf. Erin's disgust turns to curiosity as she searches for the right guy in a hilarious series of disastrous dates. Meanwhile, a lonely ex-plumber named Alan clumsily searches for his dream job while narrowly missing one chance meeting with Erin after another.

A sweet story, nicely cast and acted. The Boston location filming is well used. Pleasant screenplay, good score. It can be a little dull at times. Overall though it's good.

Unlike the heavy-handed "Good Will Hunting," this gifted-Boston-misfit romance floats, adroitly mixing thoughtfulness, farce, and surprise.

Sundance-friendly romantic indy about the trials and tribulations of dating for a while girl. Aside from Hope I think the cast are still unknown. The poster (not this one) was really captivating, it practically was the key reason why i was drawn to the film. Equipped with a bossa nova soundtrack.

Delightful. Saw this at the Toronto Film Festival in '98, and never seen it since. Worth checking out.
