funny charming and serious all at the same time. What sounds like a potentially dull premise - pathologically honest civil servant aims to set up a polling booth in a jungle village beset by communist radicals - actually works very well. Left this with a spring in the step ****

Newtown succeeds because of the powerful emotional story it tells; while it is incredibly gut-wrenching, it leaves viewers with a message of hope and unity, and a vital call to action.

Typical glorification of anarchy agenda. Yet another one-sided story about the perils of India. Great cast, good acting, though extremely biased.

For those of us who are election junkies, Newton is a welcome peek into the fascinating world of an Indian general election and the processes and ideologies that govern it. But even if you don't care about elections, Newton works on so many other levels.

Hugely impressed by India's Oscar submission and National Award winner 'Newton'. Incisive observations on the pitfalls of democratic system and the rituals expected to make it tick, not to mention sly and underhanded critique of military repression in secessionist States and of indigenous communities. I found striking similarities in the allegations leveled against the government forces in the hill tracts in Bangladesh, and I was quite surprised that it made it unscathed through the censor Board in India and went on to become a hit. Glad that it's available on Amazon Prime so that it can reach a wider audience.
