Nelly and Monsieur Arnaud (1995)

Nelly leaves her lazy, unemployed husband to work for retired judge Mr Arnaud, forty years her senior, after he offers to clear her bills for her. While she types his memoirs the two develop a close friendship, but Arnaud becomes jealous when Nelly begins dating his good-looking young publisher.

As decent as all other French movies are. Both Michel Serrault & Emmanuelle Beart were fabulous with this seemingly subtle love relationship (which reminds me similar story in [Trois couleurs: Rouge]). Great supporting cast as well.

Claude Sautet achÃ¨ve son Å"uvre comme il l'avait commencÃ (C)e par un trÃ¨s beau film, forme aboutie du prÃ (C)cÃ (C)dent (Un cÅ"ur en hiver). A la fois sensible et privilÃ (C)giant les acteurs, il dresse le portrait d'une femme, Nelly, en quÃªte de dialogue et d'affection en marge d'une vie amoureuse moderne caractÃ (C)risÃ (C)e par les rapports de force et le consumÃ (C)risme. Face Ã elle, un autoportrait de Claude Sautet en Michel Serrault qui cueille les derniers plaisirs que lui offre sa vie d'homme expÃ (C)rimentÃ (C) mais Ã¢gÃ (C). Ah, si jeunesse savait, si vieillesse pouvait... Excellent, Ã revoir.
