This one is definitely made for the hardcore Bruce Campbell fans; it contains lots of references to his previous work, as well as numerous cameos from the Evil Dead trilogy. All this, in my opinion, makes it all the more fun.

Exactly what I expected. Although I guess I cheated since I read it first in abbreviated comic book form. Great one-liners from Bruce (as always)? Check. "So-cliche-they-just-have-to-include-it" moments? Check. B-movie quality acting? Check. Racist stereotypes? Double Check. The only thing I didn't like was what they did with the Jeff character. Why have him be a mallgoth? The little sequence with him assembling his "battle armor", so to speak, was rage inducing. Overall, a good quality movie if you enjoy Bruce Campbell's usual exploits and some self referential humor.

Intentionally poorly shot, performed by the supporting and terribly written, as a spoof of the B-rate God that is Bruce Campbell, it does well. Not full of, but slightly laced with the laughs you'd expect from a Campbell produced/directed/starred film along with the poorly made special effects reminiscent of the first Evil Dead, it's a great nod to the fans, but that's truly all it serves: the fans. It's plot is ridiculous, with no mention of being mistaken for Ash (which was the funniest part of the plot description), but filled to the brim with enough b-rate goodness that it's hard to ignore for fans. I guess, because I'm such a Bruce Campbell guy, I can't say I didn't like this movie, as it was exactly what I'd hoped for, but anyone who hasn't seen a Bruce movie prior to Burn Notice will probably just mumble "WTF?", walk away and masturbate to The O.C.

Bruce Campbell is a living legend and if this movie was about anyone else it would maybe rate about 2 stats max. But its not, its all about Bruce and its hillarious. A small american town is over run by the chinese god of bean curd who goes around decapitating the residence. One of the young locals (a huge horror movie fan) decides the only way to defeat the evil is to kidnap his favorite Deadite bashing hero, Bruce Campbell. At first Bruce thinks he's been cast in another shitty B-movie so he just goes along with it. As soon as Bruce figures out its all real he reveals himself to be a complete coward. Bruce Campbell sends himself and his career up brilliantly and his fans will love all the referances to his previous work. Its more a comedy than a horror film. Fans of Mr Campbell will lap this up, non fans will think its horse shit. I thought it was Groovy! Hail to the King Baby!
