Phiip French called this a 'comic thriller'. Well, it's very funny and very thrilling, but there's still some pretty serious (even scary) stuff there. My guess is that critics who objected to this movie (and I don't mean Philip French, of course) did so because they have their own agenda: we know what that is, but it's certainly not reviewing the film by its merits.

It's OK. Not as good as i thought it would be. Knew a little bit about Howard Marks, know a lot more now. Interesting life he has lead. Loved David Thewlis as the IRA guy, mental. Well worth a watch.

while it does the follow the same trajectory as most drug dealer bio pics, its very well done, with great performanves by rhys and thewlis, chloe aint given much to do, and it was interesting how the gov't would use a drug dealer as a spy, nice stylistic touches representing the changing times, surprised it was from the director of candyman

Really enjoyable movie with great performances from Rhys Ifans and David Thewlis.
