Mountaintop Motel Massacre (1983)

After several years in an insane asylum, Evelyn, the keeper of the Mountaintop Motel, is released and resumes doing business. She kills her young charge out of anger, but convinces the police it was an accident - and pushed into insanity, she then proceeds to target her guests, first by releasing vermin into their rooms, but then by using her trusty sickle.

Good Creation/Script but needs work pretty much it starts off good but than slowly get very dull also great tag line :D but the girl on the poster is not the one in the movie just saying but the main star dose appear on the French poster. The movie also has a creepy sound track and a possible sequel ... but as of now I would remake the main movie before attempting a sequel

Dripping with creepy atmosphere, haunting music and some forbidding locations, this slasher flick is quite underrated and once it gets going, it's a rather fun thrill-ride to take. Anna Chappell is one heck of a villain - fragile and terrifying at the same time. Sure, it's pure drive-in shlock, but what else would you be expecting when you watch a movie with a title like MOUNTAINTOP MOTEL MASSACRE?

Yeah, this isn't all that great. I remember seeing the VHS box art when I was a kid at the video store, but I never saw it until now... and I wasn't missing much. To be fair, I can see why it did well at the drive-in. Hardly anything happens throughout the whole movie so you don't have to follow it too closely - a good thing for horny teenagers on a Friday night. It's fun to watch these people try to act and to wait for some sort of plot to kick in, which doesn't happen for a very long time. To be succinct, most horror fans can probably just skip this one. There isn't all that much for the gorehounds or anyone else, really. It's a good concept for a horror movie that never delivers anything and is just so poorly executed that I'm surprised it's gotten the little bit of noteriety that it has.

Anna Chappell stars as the elderly Evelyn, who's let out of a mental hospital and starts running the Mountaintop Motel, a scuzzy string of run-down shacks out in the sticks that would have me sleeping in the nearest ditch. She snaps again and on a dark and stormy night kills people stranded at her hotel. Guests include a honeymooning couple, two reverends, a record executive and a pair of Barbara Mandrell clones who don't wear bras (a rainstorm and flimsy white shirts help to prove this). Funny sounding cosmic music plays whenever Evelyn is up to something devious. She lurks around in underground catacombs spying on victims with her bulging eyes, hears her dead daughters voice, sneaks snakes, roaches and rats into rooms and hacks people up with a sickle. This is no PSYCHO, just a silly regional concoction from Louisiana with a few laughs and some blood. Larry Buchanan fans will recognize Bill Thurman as an alcoholic reverend.

This movie has a very typical killer, we get to see her for the entire movie, and she's a cross between Carrie's mother and Mrs. Vorhees. The rest of the cast is pretty dull, and we don't even get to see some of them die. The deaths are really lame too. Overall I didn't like this movie, it's too boring.
