Mosquito Man (2005)

Police lieutenant detective Thomas 'Thom' Randall's steady girl-friend, Dr. Jennifer 'Jen' Allen, is Dr. Aaron Michaels's main assistant on his pharmaceutical firm Bellion's research program to cure the highly contagious, fatal infection Guinin. A convicted murderer, whom Thom arrested, is one of their special drug test subjects, but escapes. The convict and Jen are affected by radioactively altered DNA from an experimental reactor used on mosquitoes which transfer quinine. The convict soon mutates into a mosquito-like monster, which sucks its victims dry. By the time Thom and his junior murder brigade partner Charlie Morrison figure out what happens, Jen starts mutating herself.

If you're looking for a fresh, original sci-fi film, look elsewhere, 'cause "Mansquito" is anything but that. However, it IS a fun, gory monster movie for a boring, rainy Saturday afternoon. It kinda reminded me of the movie The Fly with Jeff Goldblum, they really tried to recreate that finesse or gore, and well since it reminds me of it they kinda succeeded. The same good old story, a few scientists find themselves near an explosion where chemicals just coincidentally happen to be, and in time turns them into, big, gross, slow walking, blood sucking mosquitos. You might like it or not. Who gives a toss:D

ha! They didnt even show the name Mansquito here, ridiculous!Not bad actually, for a low budget B movie. The acting is alright, not so good for Corin i thought. Beginning scenes are well done with the prissoner. but then some obvious animated mosquito-arms, just briefly when changing. but the rest is a very goos suit, probably mechanically adjusted. All to bring an exciting story of which the ending is pretty sure, although she gets some chemicals on her arm too, hmmm... fishy at most points but not bad!

Poor man's "Fly" but a good monster effect trick of having the monster CGI from the waist down so the close ups matched better and no fat insect legs on the long shots.

The saying "so bad it's good" could have been coined with this movie in mind. I haven't laughed so hard at many movies - it's even better for not being meant to be funny. But I still think it's scary that somewhere, some day, people sat in a room, discussed this script, and said "Yes, we gotta make this!"
