Mongol is a throwback to a more respectable tradition. The largeness of its scope arises naturally from the material, not the budget. The movie earns its stature.

It is painful to watch much of the time, satisfying in the next moment. Who knew Ghengis Khan had a soft spot for women & children. Fantastic look into a brutal time and at a determined man. What I find SO fascinating is the similiarities between this Asian culture & the Native Americans, even the language is so similar!

This was amazing, in Mongolian with subtitles. Smooth like an American film, and much better and true to life than, say, Conan the Barbarian. Heh.
