I love the way all of Spike Lee's films look. IMO, he uses the screen as a canvas on which he paints beautiful, striking, colorful images. This film is not his strongest, but it is a very interesting film about a talented jazz musician trying to stay faithful to his music and at the same time maintain his relationships with friends. The story is somewhat jumbled, but it pays off well near the end. The epilogue at the very end feels awkward, but it's also a pleasant way to tell the end of the story. But really, I cannot stress enough how amazing the film looks. Spike Lee's use of color and dramatic camerawork is amazing.

Spike Lee, Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes join together to create a true homage to jazz and jazz films. However, jazz wasn't the only topic in here as Spike Lee examines love and how can love be manipulated.

Spike Lee did it in this movie..I love jazz w/ soul..I got really touched by this film because Denzel was on a path of destruction but it took a strong black woman to turn him around and change his life..Mo' Better Blues baby...
