outstanding in every way. wonderful cast, story, and set are excellent examples of a work truly coming together to provide top notch entertainment. an especially poignant moment is when Ward Bond removes his work gloves before touching the letter he is to post for the crew. One of Ford's better efforts.

If you don't like this movie, you should be forbidden access to gourmet treats for the rest of your life. This movie is politically incisive, beautifully written, and absolutely perfectly executed. The 'whiskey making' scene is pure genius.

Not your typical war movie, which is great. Jack Lemmon is terrific as Frank pulver. Always a good backup if you can't find anything to watch.

One of the sadly, unheard of war movies that didn't need physical violence to display the drama of war. Funny and touching.
