The film is still hilarious, though time has dimmed the luster of Lemmon's hamming in favor of James Cagney's superbly psychotic commanding officer.

This movie has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I have always loved the interaction between the personalities on the ship. Always entertaining.

Just saw this again the other night on AMC...Great movie w/ Henry Fonda, James Cagney, Jack Lemmon, Ward Bond and I believe, a very young Patrick Wayne.

Fabulous James Cagney as a control freak.
