Atrocious acting (even from Christopher Lee), terrible special effects, horrible dialogue and terrible writing. It really is a poor man's NeverEnding Story.

It's actually called "The Land of Faraway." Yahoo! Movies has it under this non-English title too, and I don't know why...

This is great, but It has to be the swedish version. The very weird thing with this movie is, Astrid Lindgren is Sweden's most loveable storyteller but this movie is english! I don't get it, why english characters play in a swedish movie, it's filmed here in Stockholm too so it's weird. It's a magic story, Astrid Lindgren is the best. The songs are great too, the melodies and the wooden-tubes-whistle.

A great (though sometimes weird) fantasy adventure geared toward kids but enjoyable for adults. Not really effective in treatment of greater truths of human experience, but fun.

I'm sorry, but I loved this movie because of its silliness and incredulity, it cracked me up. To be honest, I thought the acting was pretty all around bad, but I imagine that to be because of the situation where it's really meant to be in Swedish rather than English (although the thought of Christian Bale in Swedish intimidates me just a bit). The music was fun, I'll give it that. Really though, it just made me laugh. It was pretty too though. Seriously though, what kid can hang on to a beard for that long with no foot support???
