The film's combination of post-climb interviews and real-time footage provides the moviegoer with a unique perspective of these men. In a mere 90 minutes, we get to know them on a strangely personal level that other documentaries rarely achieve.

The best adventure/ outdoors documentary I've ever seen. Truly awe inspiring and breathtaking. Meru is so much more than the typical climbing film. It is, at its core, about the character, friendship and incredible determination of three individuals who set out to achieve the impossible together. The cinematography is stunning, and character and story arcs are truly incredible. 5out of 5 stars.

Meru is a packed 90 minutes. And I guess it is inspiring, in the sense that if human beings can endure this kind of risk and punishment, they could colonize Mars or breed a super-race to carry our species to the ends of the galaxy. All the familiar critical adjectives (harrowing, etc.) sound especially lame in this context. The movie is sick.

one of the most inspiring documentaries I've ever watched
