Once Upon a Wintertime, The Legend of Johnny Appleseed, Little Toot and Pecos Bill are the main highlights in another attempt at creating a quasi-sequel to the innovative idea of Fantasia. Though in this case the shorts are stronger when compared to Make Mine Music. The downsides are essentially the same problems as the others as before, the animation ranges from sub-par to surreal, the tone is all over the place and the ending seems to leave without a note to end off. Only recommendable to those seeking enjoyment out of musicals and cartoon shorts.

I had seen a few of the individual segments used in this film, and they had always been among my favorite Disney shorts. Melody Time is Disney's follow-up to Make Mine Music, and in my opinion it's the better of the two. Although it's still not up to par with Disney's first venture into the music anthology, Fantasia, it's still very entertaining and worth a look to anyone who loved watching old school Disney shorts.
