Matinee (1993)

A showman introduces a small coastal town to a unique movie experience and capitalizes on the Cuban Missile crisis hysteria with a kitschy horror extravaganza combining film effects, stage props and actors in rubber suits in this salute to the B-movie.

A good movie showing the times in the 60's and early matinee. This was the cold war era and people were scared of missles coming and taking them out. John Goodman stars as a movie theater owner who gets the kids and adults in to watch movies playing and make the experience fun. Goodman does a good job in his role. A fun film. Worth a watch.

Another coming of age, day in the life, nostalgic (?) look back type of film that I enjoy with full gusto.

This has to be the most under-rated, under-valued and criminally under-seen film of all time. Funny, touching, nostalgic in a good way, a wonderful tribute to the very joy of film itself and, the clincher, a cast of kids that never get on your nerves. Truly underrate masterpice of its time.

I actually quite enjoyed this one, I had never seen it before. It's a love letter to movies, and in particular William Castle. It's a lot of fun, from the director of "Gremlins". if you like movies, give it a try.

A lovely reminiscence of the magic of movies with a sweet little story, a fantastic piece of showmanship from John Goodman, and a central film-within-a-film of such staggering ineptitude that you can't help but laugh long and loud. I love this movie.
