not really getting to the core, but for a first try at the subject a good effort

I love this movie.I'm a big kate jackson fan and this was a big deal to make a film about gay love and put it on the big screen back in the 80's.A true landmark film.Great acting by all.

On its own baby-step terms, and despite its moneyed vanilla-himbo vision of gay masculinity and desire, Making Love plays now as a bemusing anachronism but not an insulting or self-inflating one.

A married Dr. comes to terms with his homosexual feelings after having an affair with a young gay writer. A little dated, but the situation is timely and believeable. This film was sensitive to the homosexual lifestyle - to the point of sanitation in my view. I couldn't help but feel a little sad for everyone in this movie - sad for the Dr, and particularly sad for his wife.

The studio was so timid about the content that there's hardly a story at all. A likeable cast saves the film. Incredible that in 1982 a pre-titles 'warning' on a red screen had to preface the picture for such a tame plot.
