This is a very atmospheric film. Its quite an engrossing watch and features good performances from the cast. Of course its based on the famous Shakespeare play and it has good cinematography and generally is worth seeing, although I admit that I didn't entirely follow the intricate plot details as well as perhaps others may? but I still enjoyed it for the atmosphere angle. It does contain quite a few scenes of bloody (combat/war related) violence, which may not suit all. Its a bit like a more intense Outlander perhaps, with the old fashioned English dialogue. Its a good example of a historical period drama I'd say. Yes I'd recommend this to others.

The verse, in [Justin] Kurzel's hands, is barely even identifiable as poetry. But what is Shakespeare without the unforgettable language?

Had the opportunity to read the play in high school and I really enjoyed it. Michael Fassbender is amazing as Macbeth and it has an awesome cast. While the play is hard to understand at times this film encapsulates the feeling of the movie and has stunning visuals as well as the theme of the whole movie to the theme of tragedy in Shakespeare's play. Overall a great movie to watch.

This is a visceral, down-and-dirty Macbeth, filmed on rugged Scottish highlands and heaths you can practically feel and smell, and featuring ruddy-faced actors trudging through mud.
