When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle — a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar and great music — living in the attic of his new home. My family loved the movie and central messages about family and belonging. It's got a great cast and soundtrack. Shawn Mendes voiced Lyle beautifully giving a lot of emotions through his singing, while the CGI team used Lyle's expressions when he wasn't singing.

While not enough to sell Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Bardem’s mission to out-cartoon his animated scene partner (admittedly not difficult) still feels like a blow struck for old-school flesh-and-blood eccentricity in the age of blah digital cutes. May that battle continue.
