Kim shows this conflict with remarkable restraint, with meaningful glances and pained half-smiles conveying much more feeling between Sarah and Mindy than the cheery things they say to each other.

I felt story went nowhere. Even though the actresses were beautiful and lovely to watch it really did feel like watching paint dry. It was very flat and I had no emotional connection to any of the people in this movie. It felt so timid that I was about ready to jump out of my skin. I was wishing something would happen. It did not have any. It was a bore. It needed a little space and it had absolutely none.

Lovesong is a character study of this relationship, casually yet carefully sketched out by Kim in subtle but meaningful gestures and glances. Much is communicated through the eyes, searching for answers in the void of what’s not said, but felt.
