Ahhh...The Pixies. DEATH TO THE PIXIES! This movie brought back so many memories from seeing them live. Mostly about the reunion of the band, but it's just so good to see them playing together again...even if they still seem to have the same issues. A bit sad at the end though.

loudQUIETloud is a warm documentary charting the reformation of the Pixies in 2004. Compared to rockumentaries such as "Some Kind of Monster" the crew seems less imposing but equally adept in picking up the real drama, the conflict between the characters. The Pixies seem to communicate with eachother mainly though music, with all four members having their own battles and partial arcs through the course of the film. The Kim v Charles drama, still dominates the band as at the split but all four members bring with them the baggage (good and bad) accumulated from the years apart. The reunion is a success and despite the strained communication seems to have helped each deal with something they were struggling with. They were and are awesome and the editors bring through the sense that the band is more than the sum of the parts, that they all know, that despite everything The Pixies are magical. The sound a mother makes when a baby breaks but beautiful all the same.

Great film. Surprisingly touching. Almost seems like the Pixies made some great albums despite themselves.
