A chamber piece of subtle touches, finely acted, the movie has time jumps that are a little confusing.

Yes, it's a moving story, yes it shows how some families will turn away the ones they supposedly love the most because they turn out to be gay, yes, it's a difficult life for a young gay man. All of that is true, but unfortunately, not very well shown in this movie. Kip Pardue and Bonnie Hunt do a great job acting their parts, but everybody else is extremely stiff and not very good (with the exception of the motel owner, who plays the part well even if it's very one-dimensional). Okay movie but nothing memorable.

This is a very poignant drama which follows three stories. One of a young gay guy with HIV who wants to save turtles, one of a preacher's wife who misses her son, and one of a woman who misses the child she gave up for adoption. I thought it was really well done, and it's based on a true story, which I believe it did justice as you do feel for all of the character's one way or the other. I'm not surprised that it's the preacher who comes off worst, as religion has blinded throughout the years.
