â??Loâ?? is a sometimes fun take on the horror genre (though with so much talking itâ??s not particularly scary), mixing in comedy and tension for an unusual, if not enjoyable, movie experience.

Lo is one of the strangest Rom-Com I've ever seen. The makeup and production set is superb for a low budget film. The demons are like something you would find in a Guillermo del Toro's sketch book of monsters. The writing is witty, but at times the demons would say a joke or do something that doesn't fit the tone of the film or were just too juvenile. The lead, Justin, and his love, in human form, give dull performances and aren't as interesting as the demons. I still enjoyed Lo for its originality and weirdness.

I've been listening to the FlickFights podcast for awhile, which features the writer and two of the actors of this movie. That's how I found out about. It's a decently entertaining movie, an interesting mix of horror and comedy (and, oddly, musical). Some of the moments just don't work for me- the musical numbers stretch on a little long and some of the moments seem a little forced. However, this is all made up for by the final scene, which I found extremely touching. If the rest of the ride was a little smoother, I'd be tempted to bump this up to 4 1/2 stars. As it is, it's worth watching mostly for the final 10 minutes.

What prompted me to watch this film was all the film awards I saw lined up at the top. I was disappointed. It was corny. I added a star because there were some clever parts to the story. The ending was good but the rest just felt like I was forced into a bad play by a friend in the cast. It could easily become a cult movie to the right audience but not for me. I really struggled to get to the end of the one hour and twenty minutes it took to watch this film.
