Little Athens (2005)

A day in Athens, Arizona, as teens and twenty-somethings navigate life without a compass. Jimmy has gambling debts and sees a chance to steal and sell a dead-man's stash of drugs. The corpse's cousin smells a rat. Jessica, who is babysitting, abandons her charge to seek someone to defend her from a boyfriend angry that he's caught an STD. Corey is responsible for his teen sister, and he and his pal Pedro have been evicted, so they plot to steal a car, sell it, and get back in their apartment. Heather, an EMT, thinks her cop boyfriend is cheating, and she confides in her best friend. There's a party that night where all comes to a head.

110710. The preview made this movie seem like a good one to me. All that I can say is that I found this film slow, uninspiring and purposeless. Goes to show that if you take all the good clips from a movie, and splice them all together into a preview, you can really suck people in. Basically, this film displays how fragile life can be and how much risk we really take as young people, often without knowing it. It shows how shallow minded we are when we're young.

This was a little better than the rules of attraction...same themes. a bit funnier, less depressing.

I couldn't figure out if this movie was trying to be funny and edgy or poignant? It really is none of the above-- basically all of characters are assholes that and I didn't care about them (if they were good assholes, they would have at least made me mad). And the tragic twist at the end? Even more pointless. (I have to give the production company kudos for coming up with a trailer so cool that it made me move this to the top of my netflix queue.)

Juventud en sus problemas cotidianos interpretados por un buen reparto de estrellas jovenes en un film independiente de poco presupuesto. Aveces un poco aburrida pero los actores de verdad sacan lo mejor de los personajes que le han dado.

I have been waiting to watch this film for 2 years now! Was it worth it? Without a doubt, just to catch a glimpse of Jasmine Jessica Anthony who is 1 of the cutest lil kids on the planet! Her 3 mins of screen time was more than enough! Plus I had the chance to see other familiar faces like Jorge Garcia from Lost, DJ Qualls, and Michael Pena. Little Athens is basically a novice filmmaker's movie. The kind of film u make in film school or college. I can prolly do better than this guy! But Ill give Tom Zuber a thumb up 4 effort. Cinematography was not bad but the screenplay was not that good. My guess is this movie was made at the last minute. But hey, that happens, no? To summarize this movie is nothing out of the ordinary.
