Cukor's movie is less successful as a musical than as a star vehicle (one of her very last) for Marilyn Monroe, who is at her sexiest.

Marilyn's acting in this was superb, and at times, very believeable - especially in her anger, as well as in her awe. I'd say she gave a better acting performance than in her musical performances. The story was cute, and one that never lost my interest...but i wasn't crazy about many of the songs...and the ending was too predicatable - could have done without the whole "making love" in the elevator - that, to me, was a turn off.

Monroe is simply terrific, while Milton Berle is a riot in his glorified cameo. If only a more vibrant and charismatic leading man had been chosen!
