Monroe doesn't thrive under Cukor -- whose actresses tend to be already wonderful. This is still one of her better movies, which illustrates how bizarrely overrated they tend to be.

Why this film doesn't work completely is the lead Yves Montand lacks any kind of charisma and it's hard to believe Marilyn Monroe could ever fall for a man like this. If someone like Cary Grant starred we could of have had a classic instead it's just an average film.
