Larva (2005)

In Host, Missouri, the newcomer Dr. of Veterinary Science Eli Rudkus is called by the farmer Jacob Long to exam one of his cows. The veterinarian finds a strange parasite in the animal and sends it to a friend in the Department of Agriculture for research. Later, he finds the same parasite in a creek and he summons the population for a meeting, warning that the cause might be the animal food. However, Fletcher Odermatt, the wealthy owner of the local Host Tender Meals that has been providing free animal food for the farmers, brings his lawyer Hayley Anderson and discredits Eli. When a huge mutant parasite attacks Eli and Jacob, they discover that the meals are actually an experimental genetic cocktail that is growing parasites inside the cattle and people.

Filmed on location in the building in which I work! That cool-factor alone rates it 5 Stars in my book. All of the hospital scenes--including the creepy industrial tunnel scenes--have a special connection that makes the fear factor REAL. OK the bat things are a huge slice of cheese, but if I were to show you this movie and then leave you in the tunnels underground, you would not be laughing...

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! Larva is the movie that started my obsession with awful horror movies. For that, I must give it some sort of cursory rating. At the same time, though, it's almost impossible to enjoy on any level. Like many of the movies on the Sci-Fi channel, it is taking itself a lot more seriously than it deserves, and when that happens no one has any fun. Half of the enjoyment comes from the title. LARVA.

Pretty good for a Sci-Fi Channel Original movie. I liked watching it. The magots were pretty cool...just the larva.

STARTED OUT TO BE A VERY GOOD REALISTIC MOVIE WITH COWS INFECTED WITH A PARASITE, BUT....THEN IT WENT DOWN HILL. THE SMALL REALISTIC PARASITE TURNS INTO A HUGE BAT LIKE TYPE PARASITE. AND ENDING LEAVES THE DOOR OPEN FOR A SEQUEL, LIKE WE WANT TO SEE A LARVA 2!!!! SKIP THIS ONE!
