An interesting but uneven independent about predestined love, the most fantastic french cop film, an Almodóvar film, and David Lean's slightly hollow but largely irresistable desert adventure.

Great documentary style police drama from Bertrand Tavernier. It's a gritty study of a Paris drug squad where the police are just as corrupt as the criminals. There's not much of a story, just a series of events, which leads to it's only downfall, the fact that it's slightly too long, and with no actual storyline it can feel like it's dragging on at times.
