Profound writing, impeccable performances. Hoffmand and Streep have never been better in this deeply moving masterpiece, which is just as relevant 30 years after it's production as it was when it reaped several academy awards in its' heyday.

It's a real heart ripper with terrific performances all around.

Great adoptation of the court case to determine the child custody by both genders. Intense story plot about a mother with psychological disorders who abandons her son and seperated from her husband to find a better life. Then, she automatically reappears to gain custody by jealousy and by total selfish control. Great story, oustanding acting, and well-done editing. BIG Thumbs UP!

It's scary how amazing Meryl Streep is at acting. She plays a very true supporting role in this movie yet she steals every scene shes in, its just unreal. I mean you are supposed to hate her character, hate her! But yet you can't because you feel for her because of Streep's brilliant performance. This performance in anyone elses hands would have ruined the ending to this movie. What makes it even more impressive is that she steals scenes from Dustin Hoffman in one his greatest performances and it is a great performance. Robert Benton does a great job at writing and directing this film. There is no underwritten or overwritten elements everything feels natural and real. This is a true heart-warming and beautiful film, even those who hate kids can't help but fall for this one. This is the type of film I wish hollywood would go back to making.

One of the great family dramas and a much deserved Best Picture winner. Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, and Justin Henry are all wonderful in this, they work so perfectly off each other. This film has so many great moment throughout, the two scenes of making French toast, the search for a new job, the ice cream scene, I love this film so much. One of my favorites. And man, the final 10 minutes still gets me every time.
