They've been so much better japanese ghost flick than this one. The acting is good but sometimes the spec. effects are a little arsh. And how about that guy's face? He's suppose to be the living dream that made her all fall for him... a real joke!

A Japanese folk tale, much of it too inscrutable to frighten this westerner, but still atmospheric and watchable.

A masterpiece. A must-see for Japanese ghost story fans. A superb drama that bears repeat viewings.

Even though this was not the scariest movie I've ever seen, it still had me on edge. The suspense was great, the Japanese ghost lore was appealing and I was especially freaked out by that baby. Indeed, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Allthough it is a brand new movie it breathes the atmosphere of an early Kurosawa. Beautiful pictures show Japanese society before the wars and understanding this does take some effort but it worth it, I think.
