Smith, a typical young college student who likes partying and engaging in acts of random sex and debauchery, has been having some interesting dreams revolving around two gorgeous women -- and is shocked when he meets the dream girls in real life. Lorelei looks just like his fantasy brunette, while a mysterious red-haired girl being chased by assassins draws him into an international conspiracy. Or is it all just a drug-induced hallucination?

If there's an undercurrent of impending cataclysm in today's culture, 'Kaboom' senses that feeling, seizes it in a surreal clinch and hurtles with it off a cliff.

The film is so disjointed and chaotic that the usual pleasures of Araki's films-which arise from the freedom that his lost boys enjoy-never take hold.

Differnt but i was excited to see that this strayed away from cleshes that otherwise would have made this much less intertaining, that being said really enjoyed this film and recomened this to open-minded individuals looking to budge away from the summer film tidel-wave.

Honestly, I feel like I should not like this movie because it's so ridiculously freaked out, but the combination of human teen sexual and social reality, and supernatural psychological unreality is insatiable. I love it!

I had the privilege of attending a Sundance screening in New York with Greg Araki and Thomas Dekker doing a Q&A after. What I got from the Q&A was that Araki set out to make a film like Nowhere for this generation, in that aspect he succeeded. After recent deviations like Mysterious Skin (which I have studied acknowledged as an overlooked masterpiece) and stoner epic Smiley Face, it's welcome return to form. But keep in mind, Nowhere and The Doom Generation are just silly, sexy and sometimes batshit insane movies. In a way, this one is a little more wide eyed and optimistic in the face of inevitable and an unnecessary apocalypse, and the sex is hot, but I can't recommend this movie if you are not familiar with style of Nowhere. Mainly because in this movie, no one turns into a bug and says "I'm outta here." That's the one thing this movie is missing, really.
